Porsche has revealed the next-generation 911 Cup car, set to debut in the 2026 season across its global one-make racing series. Based on the updated 992.2 platform, this evolution blends sharper performance, improved durability, and smarter design—all while streamlining operations for teams and enhancing driver control. Here's a condensed look at what’s new:
Launch & Naming
Debuts in 2026 across Porsche’s one-make racing series.
Officially renamed “911 Cup” to streamline Porsche’s motorsport naming conventions.
Built alongside road-legal 911 GT models in Zuffenhausen; over 5,300 one-make race cars produced to date.
Engine & Performance
Naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine now produces approximately 513 horsepower—an increase of about 13 hp over the previous version.
Retains 100-hour service interval despite power bump.
Features flow-optimized throttle valves and revised camshafts.
Offers three exhaust setups to meet varying noise regulations.
Transmission & Clutch
New four-disc sintered metal clutch allows higher launch RPM (>6,500 rpm).
Sequential six-speed dog gearbox remains.
Automatic engine restart and strobing brake lights enhance race safety.
Aerodynamics & Bodywork
Front end mirrors 992.2 GT3 styling; modular spoiler lip reduces repair costs.
Integrated louvre vents and turning vanes improve front-end downforce and precision.
Rear redesign includes swan-neck wing with easier adjustment.
Body panels made from recycled carbon fiber fleece and bio-based epoxy resin.
Braking System
Upgraded front discs: 380 mm diameter (~15 in), thickness increased from 1.26 to 1.38 inches.
Improved cooling via repositioned water cooler and wider brake pads.
Bosch M5 ABS now standard, with enhanced leak detection and larger fluid reservoir.
Steering & Controls
Tighter turning radius and better oversteer control via adjusted steering stops.
New multifunction steering wheel with rotary ABS/traction controls and illuminated buttons.
Central control panel reduced to 8 switches, with expanded in-car settings menu.
Electronics & Safety
TPMS now shows tire air temperature.
GPS antenna replaces infrared for lap timing and tracking.
GT3 R features added: pit lane timing, “pre-kill” engine shutoff, and fire extinguisher battery monitoring.
Added foam padding improves driver protection.
The 2026 Porsche 911 Cup is a refined, race-ready evolution that balances performance, durability, and cost-efficiency. With aerodynamic upgrades, smarter electronics, and sustainable materials, it’s engineered to deliver sharper handling, easier maintenance, and enhanced safety—making it a formidable contender in Porsche’s one-make racing legacy.
